FIREHOUSE.ART.COLLECTIVE BLOG

MY INTENTION TO CO CREATE COMMUNITY AND CULTURE

is bearing fruit in my partnership with Tom.

This FIREHOUSE.ART.COLLECTIVE BLOG is the window to whats going on, what the plans are and who is involved. Although we fall short to mention all the peeps who make or lives worthwhile, sacred and fun.
So here, I can give thanks to my family.
My daughter Dawn and her husband Ramon and Kiki the Spaniel.
They inspire and also assure me, that wisdom, beauty and Love are alive in people's hearts. No matter what some forces want us to think or know, Love is all we need to grow.
This last week was so full of meetings and wild possibilities, I will record them here so I remember to be grateful.
Through Tom and his connections to raw foodies, I got re-aquanted with Jesse Schwartz, the founder of THE LIVING TREE COMMUNITY We met Jessie to talk about Oakland warehousing and collaborating organic raw foods with the young cutting edge art world.

I remembered that Jessie was one of the first people I met, when I was pregnant in Bolinas, California. Within days of meeting him, he prepared and made French bio-dynamic raised beds in our garden and two months later, we had the most vibrant kale growing. Russian kale is deep blue-green leaves with deep purple to pink, yes pink! ruffles. Coming from City life in Austria, I have never seen anything as pretty growing in January in my own garden. This was a wonderful welcome to my daughter Dawn, who was born in February, the same  year 1981.
Jessie of Living tree invited Tom and I to my very first Shabbat celebration, which was awesome! So relaxing and deep. My meditation at his home was super sweet and lasted through the next day. No talk about work, just connecting as Menschen. Jessie has been happily married for over 12 years. Found his match by a traditional Jewish match-maker in Brooklyn. Really.
We loved the food.

Another Jessie, a girl it turns out, with a German last name, Wusthoff, contacted us at the Firehouse North to talk about collaborating in the new Firehouse South Oakland Gallery space. She is the founder of gallery http://www.terminal22.com/. With great knowledge and experience, ready to work together on art shows, curating and connecting us to artists who might need studio spaces. I loved her style and felt relaxed right away, knowing, we have met an ally.

Last and not at all least, we came upon a new way of brewing Kombucha.
Tom's ceramic Art friends and colleagues, including John Toki of  http://www.leslieceramics.com/index.html developed a Terra Cotta cylinder which they brew organic wine in. For the longest time, I wanted to see if I could get into the wine brewing techniques for Kombucha brewing. Here is is! Our new column of earth, ready to brew us a batch of sparkly Santosha, contentment.
